“Getting Organised”

September is when life starts to fill up again.

Work, family, appointments, new projects, things to remember.

After those slow lazy days of summer,

it can suddenly feel like you’ve got a lot on your plate!

But getting organised doesn’t have to mean

becoming a super productive multitasking perfectionist

that only leads to stress.

It’s about creating more space.

More space in your head and in your day for the things you enjoy.

One simple thing that really helps me is writing things down by hand.

There’s something special about putting pen to paper

and seeing your thoughts written down.

I  love this process of externalising my thoughts that are often racing around in my head.

It helps me to slow down.

It helps me to see what’s important.

So, here’s a little experiment for you.

Take a notebook or a piece of paper and a pen and think about tomorrow.

What are the three most important things you need to do?

Don’t organise them yet.

Just write them down as they come to mind.

Then look at your list.

Which one is the most important?

Write number 1 next to it.

Then choose the second most important and write number 2.

And finally number 3.

That is your priority list for tomorrow.

But wait, we’re not finished yet…

Add one more thing, something for you!

Something you really like to do.

Maybe read a few pages of a book.

Listen to some music.

Go for a walk.

Sit outside with a coffee.

Listen to one of my English audios.

Or even speak English to yourself while you make your favourite drink.

Something you find enjoyable.

So take five minutes.

Put your phone away.

Find a notebook and a pen.

Write down your three priorities for tomorrow

and one thing just for you.

Then the day after, go back and look at your list again.

How did it go?

Did writing things down help you get more organised?

Did you find time for yourself to do something special for you?

And did your day feel any different?

Let me know.

Ciao for now!
